The 11th edition of CinemAsia Film Festival 2018 is coming up!
CinemAsia Film Festival is the one and only Pan-Asian Film Festival in The Netherlands and will take place from 6 – 11 March at Kriterion and Rialto Amsterdam.
We are currently recruiting enthusiastic volunteers who share our love for Asian film, food and fun to assist us with all sorts of activities before and during the festival! Are you joining our team?
How to apply as a volunteer?
Send us an email to email@example.com before Wednesday 31st of January 2018. Please include a relevant CV and a short motivation letter (max 200 words) in which you explain us why you want to volunteer at CinemAsia, which position/s you are interested in (see the list below), what skills you have and which languages you speak.
What do we expect from our volunteers?
• Our volunteers need to be at least 18 years old.
• Being the face of our festival, you must have a representative attitude and be willing to speak English and preferably also Dutch. If you’re in possession of extra language skills, i.e. Asian languages, please inform us, as we might have specific jobs for you.
• You live (preferably) in Amsterdam. However, candidates that live in other cities are also invited to apply, as we have a growing network of On Tour events in other cities of the Netherlands.
• You are available a few days before and during the period of the festival (minimum 5 shifts)
• You are holding an EU passport or a Dutch working/student permit
• You will attend two to three pre-festival meetings to get to know each other and understand what your position entails, who your coordinators are and how the organization functions.
• Festival Hosts
If it’s your first time at CinemAsia, this is the most common and popular job at our festival, and a nice way to get involved in the organisation. You are the face of the festival and will answer the questions visitors may have. Amongst your responsibilities are: checking tickets, handing out and collecting voting ballots, handing out sample snacks, cleaning up halls after the films, stand at the Festival Desk to welcome guests and people who want to know more about the festival.
• Special Events
You will help during e.g. industry panels, LGBTQ programs, the exhibition opening, Food & Film, Rainbow Karaoke, and the new Asian Food Truck
• Build up and Production Runners
You will help the Producer and Location Managers with setting up and breaking down the venues before and after the festival, and taking care of practical issues during the festival that need immediate assistance. For this job, some handy skills are required; please mention them when you apply.
• Promotion Team
You will help before and during the festival with all kinds of promotional activities, like distributing posters, flyers and program booklets throughout the city.
• Photography & Film Team
You will be capturing all the special and fun moments of the festival on photo or film. All photo and film materials will be owned by CinemAsia and will be used for promotional use. Please send a portfolio of your work with your application.
• Location and Floor managers.
These are positions of more responsibility and will be allocated only to people with previous experience or with at least former experience with CinemAsia. They require longer shifts and more availability during the festival, and the people selected will have to start working a week ahead of the festival, and finish a few days after. Amongst your responsibilities are: to make follow up day schedules attentively, coordinate fellow volunteers in communication with the Volunteer Coordinator, to assist in introductions and Q&As, make sure that everything runs according to schedule, communicate regularly with the Festival Producer. Please mention if you’re in possession of a Driver’s License.
What do you get in return?
Being a non-profit organization, CinemAsia Film Festival can only take place thanks to the help of good willing volunteers. That’s why we will do our best to take good care of you. Entrance to festival films is free for volunteers, except if films are sold out, and in previous consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator. You will receive an official Festival T-shirt and Volunteer badge and will be invited to join our team events. During your shifts, you will get food and drinks and most of all you will have a wonderful experience, meet a lot of people from different and exciting background and you will have an exclusive, behind the scene experience of the biggest Pan-Asian Film Festival of the Netherlands. Unfortunately, we cannot cover any travel or accommodation expenses.
