As part of the LGBTQ+ programme in conjunction with CinemAsia Film Festival in March 2019, we organize the exhibition: Our Lives Elsewhere, which intends to explore and disseminate the lives of the Asian LGBTQ+ communities across Asia and The Netherlands. For this we need your help.
In recent years, we have witnessed many significant developments in LGBTQ+ rights, ranging from the decriminalization of gay sex in India, to Taiwan’s push towards marriage equality, to Indonesia’s growing hostility towards the LGBTQ+ communities. However, there are multiple perspectives on the matters, and many issues are often overlooked and misrepresented. The exhibition attempts to document and archive the lives and experiences of the Asian LGBTQ+ communities and present the stories to the public sphere.
We would like to invite you to contribute with digital versions of your personal objects, photographs, messages and things that would shed light on to the private and public Asian LGBTQ+ lives, especially to share the stories of those who may not be able to do so, in a safe environment in Amsterdam.
We are looking for the following:
- An image of the subject related to the stories
- A short text describing the image and context (Maximum 500 words)
Country of origin
- Interested? Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and introduce yourself, your stories and objects before 20 January 2019. You can also fill in this online form.
We look forward to hearing your stories and ideas real soon!
