Film programmer CinemAsia Film Festival 2024 – Freelance

Are you passionate about Asian cinema and do you hold Asian communities close to your heart? Do you aim to provide the audience of the CinemAsia Film Festival with an unforgettable experience? CinemAsia Film Festival is is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Film Programmer to curate and implement the film program of the 16th edition of the festival, taking place from March 5th to 10th, 2024.

 

Who are we?

CinemAsia Film Festival offers the best of Asian Cinema in the Netherlands since 2004. The annual festival will celebrate its sixteenth edition in March 2024. The festival showcases the latest of Asian cinema, diaspora productions, hosts community workshops and in-depth side programming. On the weekends our audience can enjoy food and film with our Food Bazaar.

 

What will you be doing?

As a Film Programmer, you will play a crucial role in selecting films and creating an engaging and diverse lineup that reflects CinemAsia’s mission and vision. You will work closely with the Artistic Director, the Program Coordinator, and the other Film Programmers to curate the main film program and side events of the festival.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Selecting films that align with CinemAsia Film Festival’s themes and goals.
  • Curating a diverse and captivating film lineup.
  • Collaborating with distributors, filmmakers, and other stakeholders to acquire films.
  • Contributing to the planning and organization of special events, such as panels and discussions.Ā 
  • Maintaining connections within the international/Asian film community.Ā 

 

Availability

Start: September 15, 2023

September – December 2023: 1 day a week, Jan-March 2024: 2-3 days a week and full time during the festival March 5-10 and during the On Tour.

 

Who are you?

  • Experience in film programming or related field.
  • You love Asian cinema
  • Creativity in film selection and program curation
  • Your English language skills are excellent, preferably you speak at least one other Asian language or Dutch as well.Ā 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Affinity for diversity and inclusion in the film industry
  • After hours aren’t a problem for you
