The Novelist’s Film 소설가의 영화

TICKETS
Sunday 12 March 16:50, Studio/K

A novelist embarks on a daytrip to visit a bookstore run by her ex-colleague with whom she has fallen out of touch. Her visit turns into a series of unexpected and awkward encounters with familiar faces from the past. However, when the novelist runs into a young actress, she immediately feels drawn to her. As the two become closer, their chance encounter rekindles the novelist’s long-lost wish to make a film.

Director HONG Sang-Soo returns with his sixth black-and-white film after winning the Silver Bear for Best Director for The Woman Who Ran (2020) at the Berlin International Film Festival. In The Novelist’s Film, Hong first lets his lens gaze upon the happenings and later in the film, he borrows the novelist’s words to explain his passion for telling such stories. Hong’s inimitable meditation, which walks a fine line between fiction and reality, invites us to wander around in his wondrous world.
