Awarded Best Picture and Best Actor at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize, Midnight Swan centers around Nagisa, a transgender nightclub performer in Tokyo. One day, she is abruptly asked to take in her young niece Ichika, who has been neglected by her mother. Living with Ichika proves uneasy at first, but when Ichika joins a trial lesson at a ballet studio, she astonishes the teacher and Nagisa with her talent. Realizing Ichika’s potential, Nagisa helps Ichika pursue her dreams and passions, and a familial bond between them begins to grow.
