They later decide to volunteer at the Formosa Magazine to promote freedom of expression, but their budding relationship is threatened as the Kuomintang regime seeks to suppress dissident voices. Set amidst Taiwan’s period of martial law, Secrets of 1979 intertwines the personal with the political and tells a story of youthful romance in turbulent times.
