Small Talk (Taiwan) director
Huang Hui-chen (Taiwan, 1978) became a political activist at the age 20, working together with different unions. From these experiences she took up filmmaking in her 20’s to focus on the plight of domestic and immigrant workers in Taiwan, and as a therapeutic tool. Her films have been shown and awarded at several international festivals
SMALL TALK is a very personal documentary about the touching reconciliation with her mother. The film is produced with guidance of Executive Producer Hou Hsiao-Hsien and has won amongst others the Teddy Award for best Documentary at the Berlinale, Best Documentary at Taipei IFF and was Taiwans choice of entry for the Oscars (Foreign Language Category).
Huang Hui-chen will be present for Q&A after the screening of SMALL TALK on Wednesday 7 March 17:15, Thursday 8 March 15:15 and Saturday 10 March on 12:15.
