A number of meetings on Asian and Dutch films and film industry will be organised, including workshops, special screenings and a panel discussion.

Cinemasia Film Festival organizes in co-production with Dutch Directors Guild (DDG) and the Netherlands Film Fund a panel discussion on talent development and diversity in the Dutch film and television industry.
Film makers and policy makers are invited to talk about the current status of the diversity debate in the film and television industry.  What initiatives have been taken and what are the experiences with these? What are the new developments of the Taskforce Diversity, a cooperation between DDG, FPN, Netwerk Scenarioschrijvers and ACT? What is the current state of the policy of the Film Fund? What are the lessons from CinemAsia FilmLAB, the succesfull talent program of CinemAsia which has it’s 8th edition this year?
Speakers are: Shariff Nasr (director and Taskforce Diversity), Margo van der Valk (Film Fund) and Daan Vree (director and producer CinemAsia Filmlab).
The panel discussion will be with an active participation of the public. Language is English.
Please also be welcome to the screening of the FilmLB 2017 films, prior to to the meeting in Kriterion 2,  from 15:00 to 15:30h.

Daan Vree
Daan Vree is a writer, filmmaker and teacher. He teaches Dutch writing skills, creative concept decelopment and gives film workshops. As a freelance filmmaker, he makes his own work and he works on commission. In 2012, he was one of the participants of CinemAsia FilmLAB and has been one of the CinemAsia filmLAB producers for 4 years now. 
Margo van der Valk 
Margo van der Valk is policy officer at the Dutch Film Fund. Together with the Film Funds managing director she lobbies on the diversity file, in cooperation with trade unions, casting agencies and education institutes.
Shariff Nasr
Shariff Nasr is a Dutch award-winning director and screenwriter of many short films, series and commercials. He has a keen eye for social developments, and always tries to find an original perspective to address thorny issues, often using comedy as a weapon to fight for these issues. Shariff is also an active member of the workgroup diversity of the Dutch Directors Guild.
