Saturday 14 May | 19:10–20:00, following the screening of Midnight Swan at 16:50 | Studio/K SK4
The film MIDNIGHT SWAN is a multi-award winning Japanese film that centres a transgender character. Its achievements have made waves in Japanese mainstream media for its inclusion of trans narrative, however, the film remains problematic for many due to its lack of involvement from the trans community. Together with TranScreen Film Festival and Studio/Queer, we will dissect the troubles with queer representation in popular culture through a critical lens. Speakers include Laura Kok, Art van ‘t Rood, and Jonnah Bron, and will be moderated by Sascha Sylbing.
Co-hosted in collaboration with TranScreen and Studio/K
