The panel discusses the changes and trends in the media landscape, against the backdrop of the economic rise of Asia in the last decades and streaming services as the game changer for original content production and distribution worldwide. Achievements and learnings from collaborations between Europe and Asia in film productions will be shared to brainstorm what is essential to achieve cultural diversity and to place Asia on the world map, this time from an Asian perspective instead of within an Orientalist framework.

The panel will be moderated by the festival’s artistic director Jia Zhao. Panelists are:

  • Professor Anne Sokolsky, Chair of Taiwan Studies at IIAS and Leiden University
  • Meiske Taurisia, producer and co-founder of Palari Films
  • Corinne van Egeraat, producer and owner of ZINDOC
  • Erik Glijnis, producer at Lemming Film
  • Lorna Tee, producer and film festival curator/consultant
  • Liu Xuan, Chinese film producer
  • Daan Vermeulen, Head of Acquisitions and Marketing at Cinema Delicatessen
